The Walk

The annual Amanda Hichkad CCA Celebration Walk brings our community together to celebrate, honor, and remember our family, friends, and neighbors in the fight against cancer. Named after a beloved Bel Air resident, wife, and mother of three; Amanda Hichkad, this signature, community fundraising event directly supports the services and programs of Cancer LifeNet at University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health’s Kaufman Cancer Center.

In 2019, more than 1,000 walkers participated in the 6th Annual Amanda Hichkad CCA Celebration Walk. $95,000 was raised by more than 2,000 donors in support of Cancer LifeNet. 50 fundraising teams formed and were responsible for raising more than half of the total 2019 Walk income.

Since its inception in 2014, more than $700,000 has been raised through the Amanda Hichkad CCA Celebration Walk. This is neighbors helping neighbors.

“It’s more than just a walk. It’s the community, it’s being with friends, loved ones, and family. We’re really not just individual team captains – we’re all one great big team, fighting one great big disease. No matter what type of cancer you have, its great to have people rally around you, support you, and love you unconditionally.”

– Eddie Maynard, Grateful Patient
